Hokie Joint

Reviewed by Chloe Bevan on 27 April 2012

Hokie Joint have been nominated in the blues music awards this year, and it’s easy to see why after their performance at the old town theatre on Friday 27th April.

Well, what can I say? They gave an absolutely fantastic energetic performance from beginning to end. What more could you want?

This is band that knows how to play their instruments to a world class standard, but also knows how to interact with the audience.

Jo Jo Burgess, the lead singer, is a very charismatic performer. His very unique style of dancing and his very clear connection and love of his music meant that every single person in the audience couldn't take their eyes off of him for a second.

The band showed a great connection between themselves and their music from the way they played, danced and interacted with each other. It was clear to see that this is what they enjoy most, being up on stage... and why not if you are that much of a born performer.

Each member had the chance to showcase their talent from bass, guitar, drums and harmonica playing. All as equally as talented as each other.

This was a great show and definitely not one to have missed. If you missed out or enjoyed it so much that you want to see them again, you can catch them in London at The Blues Kitchens on 1st May or the 5th May at Burnley International Rock & Blues Festival, as well as the Cosmic Puffin Festival, Mersea on the 6th May.
